Pastor Cody on Mission Trip to Nicaragua
Some days are hard, some feel easy, some are heavy with sadness and other days are painfully lonely. Some days feel like too much… and other days, not enough. And then there are days that feel just right—even in the middle of the struggle.
Many of us look back on “somedays” memories of people, places, and moments that no longer exist the way they once did. We grieve what was. We miss who is gone. And sometimes, we wish we could go back.
But today, there is one “someday” I want to turn into every day, my relationship with Jesus Christ. Jesus is the one who never leaves and never forsakes us (Hebrews 13:5).
I will never attend His funeral. I will never have to wonder if He is enough, or too much, or not present. He will never overwhelm me except with grace, mercy, and love.
Jesus is not part of my life. He is my life. Scripture says, “Fixing our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith” (Hebrews 12:2).
He covers every “some day,” every hard day, every lonely day, and every quiet day. That’s why I choose to meet him early in the stillness of the morning. I prepare my day as if I have huge tasks ahead… because spiritually, I do. There are souls to pray for. There is truth to be received. There is strength to be renewed.
“Very early in the morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up… and prayed” (Mark 1:35). If Jesus needed that time with the Father, how much more do we? Shut-in days are not wasted days. They are holy ground when surrendered to God. The world tells us we are limited by our circumstances, but God says, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My power is made perfect in weakness” (2 Corinthians 12:9).
Many great servants of God, Billy Graham among them; said near the end of their lives that they wished they had spent more time in prayer and in God’s Word. That should challenge us.
So let us ask ourselves honestly:
How much time do I truly spend with You, Lord? Because that time is the real game-changer. When we draw near to God, we are no longer bound by secular views, opinions, or empty substitutes. We are anchored in Truth. “Draw near to God, and He will draw near to you” (James 4:8). “Those who wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength” (Isaiah 40:31).
If you are shut-in today, remember this:
You are not shut out from God’s purpose. You are not forgotten. You are not unproductive in His Kingdom. Your prayers matter. Your time with Him matters. Your faithfulness in the quiet matters.
Let today be the day you say:
“Lord, I want every someday of my life to be wrapped in You.” And He will meet you there every single time.
(SHARE THIS with shut-in friends are those who are just going through it at this time.)
